Misjon i Salemkirken Lørenskog

Mission work is an important part of Salemkirken Lørenskog.

The church is engaged in mission work in several countries. The main focus is on countries in Eastern Europe,
but we also support work directed toward the Middle East.
Salemkirken has previously had a long-term commitment through its own missionaries in
Paraguay. Today, the church provides annual support to Hogar Norma,
people with disabilities in Ypacaraí.
Mission work is an important part of Salemkirken Lørenskog.

Mission and Diaconal Work

Mission is about proclaiming the Gospel, which is the most important task, but it also includes being actively involved in
work for people in need. Both of these main focuses are important to Salemkirken Lørenskog.
Here is a glimpse of some of the work in which Salemkirken is involved:

🇬🇧 Ukraine

in Ukraine.
Ukraina.
One works from a church
and Bible school in Lviv (the largest city in western Ukraine), one in
northwestern Ukraine, three in the Sumy region (northeastern
Ukraine), two in and around the city of Zaporizhzhia, and two in the Donetsk
region.
They carry out extensive work in evangelism and care,
both locally and among the civilian population close to the front lines.
After a prolonged period of war, the needs in the country have increased significantly.
At Salemkirken, we use every opportunity we have to help
provide what people in Ukraine need most—working through the local churches
there.
Salemkirken has visited the country many times,
bringing as many essential supplies as possible in a minibus, such as
clothing, shoes, and toiletries for distribution. In addition, we participate in
the work of the local churches, attend services, and visit prisons,
orphanages, nursing homes, and families with special needs.

Russia

Salemkirken Lørenskog is involved in mission work in Russia by
serving as a supporting church for missionary Kari Persdatter Myre.
Kari works with song and music and is involved in ministry among children and youth in
various parts of Russia.
She is an energetic worker in God’s kingdom and has lived in
Russia for 25 years.
Salemkirken is the contact church for Russia within Pinse Misjon.
We also take part in the prayer initiative “Time for Indigenous Peoples”,
with a prayer focus on Khakassia, located in the southern part of central Siberia.

Lithuania

Salemkirken Lørenskog has supported mission work in Lithuania through the Pentecostal Union of Lithuania since 2015,
providing regular support for evangelism teams and the planting of new churches. In addition, individual donations are given to a day center for children in vulnerable situations.
Lithuania is a small country with approximately 2.8 million people and very few evangelical Christians.
The Pentecostal Union in the country is well organized, and as of today there are approximately 23 Pentecostal churches.

THE MIDDLE EAST – UNREACHED AND PERSECUTED CHRISTIANS

Salemkirken Lørenskog has increased its mission engagement in the Middle East in recent years, especially through prayer and financial support for mission organizations that work closely in countries such as Israel and other parts of the Middle East. Through this work, many unreached people groups and persecuted Christians are reached and supported.

Salemkirken uses the World Watch List as a guide when praying for countries in the Middle East and other nations experiencing severe persecution. Each year, on a Sunday in November, we observe Sunday for the Persecuted Church.

Bible School, Evangelism, and Relief Work

Salemkirken Lørenskog provides annual support for Bible school ministry and evangelism in Ukraine, Lithuania, and other countries. In addition, financial support and practical assistance are given to meet various needs that arise throughout the year, primarily in the countries where we are actively engaged.
